I already had a few stories by Grégoire Solotareff when I went to the book festival in Paris in December and this is why I wanted to meet him; however they were a little difficult for younger people, which is why I bought this book: it is just perfect!! Please check out below the picture of Mini Miss Paris he drew for me!

Author or source: Grégoire Solotareff
Intended age of students: Key Stage 1/2/3
Source reference: 9782211071147

The first challenge for the pupils could be to tell you after each page, as you read the story, whether the crocodile is "content" ou "pas content"; then you could do the same for the elephant; half the class could take on the role of the crocodile and half the class the role of the elephant. This will be great fun!

This is another story which is simple enough for the children to understand it easily and be able to join in with "Non mais ça va pas?" but the language in it is also complicated enough for them to be able to make progress looking at it more closely and analysing it.

Once familiar with it, the pupils, in groups, could practise acting out the story with a narrator and others taking on the roles of the animals. They will have great fun with it! They could also alter the animals to fit in with puppets they may have and put on a show.

Topics or themes:
The importance of being kind; also see grammar points below.

How much time required:

You can find lots of extra ideas and resources to exploit the story here and you can buy the book here at Little Linguist .

If you like this story, you can also check out another book by Grégoire Solotareff, Loulou, which I recommend here.
